President’s Message
June 2013

Our Chapter’s Future;

As your chapter president I would like to bring you up to speed with the   status of our ACF Tampa Bay Chapter accomplishments over this past year to date.

First of all, we have been very fortunate to have a strong foundation built with the unconditional passion and dedication of our founders, Dr. George Pastor, Fred and Pat Lucardie which created family spirit, traditions, & loyalty that have been fostered over their many years of service to the chapter.  Most recently, the chapter’s newly executive board has transitioned to what we believe will direct the chapter towards a new image being recognized further by the Tampa Bay Community and ACF National Headquarters in St. Augustine.

We are encouraged with many of the new decisions that have made significant impact with the accomplishments to the way the chapter has made decisions to improve our status within the ACF community.

When I attended the ACF SE Regional Conference in Louisville I was able to speak to many of the ACF National officials and staff, finally being able to put faces to names that we all have talked with for one reason or another. The conference was a very educational experience as I attended many of the seminars offered by ACF.  These experiences enable me to represent our chapter to meet other chapter officers from ACF chapters from the SE Region.  At the awards dinner several awards were given out, but I remember distinctly hearing our chapter’s name being recognized as chapter of the year. When the announcement was made I felt like a little kid again and our team just won the little league world series! WOW I thought, someone is finally watching us and seeing what we have accomplished as a chapter. I was honored to receive this award on behalf of our chapter, because our Tampa Bay Culinary Association has worked very hard to make a difference in how we operate our chapter.

I would like to thank our executive board and board of directors for their support with the most recent chapter accomplishments. Without the board we would not be able to operate as a cohesive group. At this time I would like to inform you of the accomplishments made in the recent months.

2012- December, AAC Dinner Held at Land of Lakes High School, this is the first time in the history of the American Academy of Chefs that this dinner was permitted in an educational facility. Our chapter participated by 15 of our chef members donated their time to work with the students at the Academy of Culinary Arts at LOLHS.

2013- April, Annual Chapter Picnic was held at Lettuce Lake Park, over 30 members attended this event. It was fun filled and had lots of food, games & of course the dessert contest.
