2014 April President’s Message

2014 April President’s Message

Chapter Members,
For those of you who were able to make our annual chapter picnic, I hope you enjoyed the Picnic held at Lettuce Park. I would like to take a moment to send a special thanks to Chefs Gerard Marquetty, Michael Priola, Allan Gazaway, Clyde Tanner, Les Eckert, Richard Ellman, Rick Eppers, Jeff Fredrickson, Sponsors and their families in their efforts in putting this event together.
We appreciate your time and energy in making this possible.

Our next Chapter Board Meeting will be Monday, April 14 2014 held at Hopco Foodservice Marketing 5201 West Laurel Street. At 6:30 PM we will have our general chapter meeting Hosted by Chef Rick Eppers.

I would like to recognize Chef Les Eckert CEPC, CCE for her resent promotion. Chef Eckert has taken the Director of Culinary Arts at AI in North Carolina. We wish you the best of luck! See you at the SE Regional Conference going for Pastry Chef of the Year.

I remember President John F. Kennedy made a famous speech stating:
“As Not what your Country Can Do for You, Ask what you can do for your Country!”

Let’s now put this courageous speak to work in our own chapter.

“Ask Not What the ACF Can Do For You, Ask What You Can Do For ACF Tampa Bay Culinary Association”

There are so many opportunities to get involved within our own chapter, Step up, get involved we are looking for your help with our chapter.

Last Month I stated that your outgoing board has implemented our new policies & standards. Be the difference in the continuation to enhance our chapter’s progress to again be 2014 SE Chapter of the Year! This year your executive board will be completing their two years in their respected positions, I would encourage all members who have an interest to become an executive or board member share your interest or to nominate a member in good standing with Cheryl Glass our Chapter Administrator. Currently ACF Certification for Chapter President is required by our chapter bylaws, all other positions are open to our members. Cheryl will be sending out the next chapter newsletter to begin this nomination process.

After the election of your executive officers, the chapter president will appoint the new board of directors when the new term begins in October. The proposed dates for the new election process began in March. We will allow 90 days to accept nominations for the executive board. May 31, 2014 the nominations will officially close. The ballot will be completed nominees will be posted on the chapter web sight.

All chapter members who are members in good standing are eligible to nominate & vote. Property, National members and a few other types of memberships are not eligible to vote. In the month of June an electronic ballot will be emailed to all eligible voting members. The official close of voting will be July 31, 2014. August we will announce the new elected executive board.

Jeff Fredrickson at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Pete Beach will host September’s awards dinner. There we will introduce your newly elected officers, honor chapter members, sponsors, committee & board volunteers thru the last two years of service. Please come and celebrate with your fellow members. The cost will be $15.00 for members, there will be no charge for students.

Coming up Quickly!
