Q2 Presidents Message to Chapter

Hello to all fellow Chapter Members, Partners, Family and Friends:

I hope each and every one of you had a great 4th of July this past week and I wanted to remind you all of the Cook. Craft. Create. ACF National Convention & Show in Orlando, July 9-13. This conference is only about an hour away from our Chapters area.  I know that this year is already flying by and it does not seem possible that we have already had six chapter meetings. With that being said, the first at Monin in Clearwater and then we were off to Paramount Foods in Tampa and then to GA Foods in St. Petersburg. Since the last my last message we have been to Welbuilt Food Service in New Port Richey and then Acosta Food Service in Tampa and then to Pinellas Technical College in St Petersburg.  A big round of applause goes out for our three hosts for the second quarter of the year. Also another big successful event was the Ryan Wells Foundation “Evening with the Chefs”, which raised nearly $165,000 to support students across Pinellas County. A big thank you to them as well. Thank you to all who participated in coming out to our night at the Ball Park. The next meeting on 14 August will be at the Center for Nutrition and Culinary for Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa. Please come and see us there.

2017 has brought a lot of change to our Chapter and also to our National Board. We have had newly elected President of the ACF, I would like to introduce you to Stafford DeCambra, CEC, CCE, CCA, AAC. For those of you who don’t know him he is a man of many hats. He was previously the Chairmen of the American Academy of Chefs, he a judge, a mentor and competitor. He has been travelling all around the United States and the World doing what he does best, judging, mentoring and sharing culinary traditions with all of our friends, peers and allies. We all look forward to the changes and the progress he will bring to our organization. If you are planning on attending the National Convention he will be very easy for you to find and meet and after that please watch the demos, walk the trade show floor and enjoy the competitions, they all had to travel a road to get there. The ACF National Convention is in Orlando again in July and we are really fortunate that it is only about an hour away. Please take advantage of this opportunity and be a part of it all. We are continuing to grow and reaching out to recruit new members and partners. As you all know we had to cancel our golf tournament because of low participation but don’t worry we have some real fun things still to happen in the next three months. The Chapter is going to go bowling in August and then September we will have our Annual awards dinner at the Fort Harrison Hotel in September and then in October we are having a Dinner featuring some of our Chapter Chefs.\
